CalPortland earns 14th consecutive ENERGY STAR award
Port of Vancouver USA tenant CalPortland has achieved something no other U.S. building materials manufacturing company ever has: It’s now been recognized 14 times in a row by the EPA ENERGY STAR program for continued excellence and leadership in energy efficiency and commitment to the ENERGY STAR program.
“Our corporate energy management team and employees continue to lead by example and advocate for innovative solutions that provide energy efficiency and cost reduction while reducing our company’s environmental impact,” said President and CEO of CalPortland, Allen Hamblen. “CalPortland is committed to solving tomorrow’s challenges today, through the advancement of sustainable materials and renewable technologies.”
Earning 14 consecutive ENERGY STAR recognitions is no small feat in the manufacturing world. A 2014 report by the National Association of Manufacturers and the Alliance to Save Energy shows that the industrial sector consumes one-third of U.S. energy. When combined with transportation, that number increases to 60 percent.
CalPortland, the largest building materials company producing cement and construction material products on the U.S. West Coast, has continually demonstrated its commitment to reducing its energy footprint through plant and hardware upgrades, sharing best practices, employee training, community and industry outreach and more.
