Terminal 1 hotel advances toward construction
VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Port of Vancouver USA Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a new lease with T1 Hotel LLC on Dec. 11, paving the way for construction of a 160-room AC by Marriott Hotel at Terminal 1, the port’s waterfront development.
The original lease was signed in August 2017. Since then, the port and Vancouver, Washington-based Vesta Hospitality, which owns T1 Hotel, have been working toward agreement on lease conditions. The new lease incorporates subsequent amendments and includes language on green building standards and ground stabilization necessary to construct at the waterfront.
Construction on ground stabilization, which will support the hotel and future Renaissance Trail connection through Terminal 1, is expected to begin in 2019.
Hotel construction is expected to be complete in 2021. The hotel will be LEED Gold certified, one of the highest green building certifications in this comprehensive global rating system.
T1 Hotel estimates it will employ more than 80 people to support its hotel, retail, event and restaurant activities at Terminal 1.
