As many of you know, the contract between the Pacific Maritime Association and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union will change on June 29, 2013. Changes will result in an increase to hourly labor rates and the assessments on man hours worked. These labor and assessment changes increase the port’s affected labor rates.

The assessment portion of the overall increase is expected to be announced by Pacific Maritime Association towards the end of May or into June 2013. The Port of Vancouver does not know when the increases will be made public and thus cannot provide its customary 30 day advance notice before increasing tariff rates.

The port will make every effort to provide as much notice as possible on the changes once know; however, please be advised that the port will increase its labor related rates approximately June 29, 2013.
