Paving-Rail-Crossing_POVIn the past two weeks, the Port of Vancouver’s Terminal 5 loop track has made progress in order to meet its April 19 projected completion date.  The Project, part of the larger West Vancouver Freight Access project, will add approximately 2,450 feet of new track and relocate 6,300 feet of track within the Terminal 5 loop track. This configuration will result in the ability to handle 120 cars at the new facility versus the original 110.

The crossing road was paved in late-March to allow alternative access inside the loop, and electrical signalized crossing sensors have been installed on the outer track and crews hope for them to be operational by mid-April.

Plans to install elastomeric check valves, designed to protect the storm system from a Columbia River flood event, are underway. Lastly, a stellar two-man fencing crew has worked diligently to install nearly a mile of permanent security fencing around the modified Terminal 5 rail loop.
