KinderMorgan_04252013_4146-webFormed in 1997, Kinder Morgan is the largest midstream and the third largest energy company in North America. Kinder Morgan’s pipelines transport natural gas, refined petroleum products, crude oil, carbon dioxide (CO2) and more. The company also stores and handles a variety of products and materials at terminals such as copper concentrate, bentonite clay, jet fuel, ethanol and steel.

At the Port of Vancouver, port tenant Kinder Morgan Bulk Terminals (KMBT) had their highest volume ever in 2012. The company handled more than 576,800 metric tons in 2012, nearly a 100,000 metric ton increase from 478,565 in 2011. Kinder Morgan also increased their commodity handling capacity from two commodities to three. The company continues to aggressively market the bulk export facility for new commodities and customers, resulting in potential new jobs in Clark County and Southwest Washington.

KMBT’s increased volume has resulted in increased vessel traffic calls, creating economic revenue for the Vancouver community. The company continues to be an important port partner through their endeavors to improve and upgrade their facilities and to operate in a safe and efficient manner, and for this, is the clear winner of the 2012 Marine Customer of the Year award.
