POV_MVNSchelde2-(1)_webVANCOUVER, Wash.—The Port of Vancouver USA welcomed the Maltese M/V N Schelde commanded by Capt. M.S. Nasoordeen of Sri Lanka on her maiden voyage to the United States on April 17, 2013.

The 21 diverse crew members range in age from 23 years  to 59 years, and are from Bulgaria, China, Kiribati, Myanmar, Poland, Sri Lanka and Ukraine. Captain Nasoordeen and his crew were welcomed to Vancouver by representatives from Pacific Northwest Ship and Cargo Services (USA) Inc, General Steamship Corp Ltd,  Cascade Marine Agencies and Port of Vancouver USA.

The M/V N Schelde was built in China by Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding Company Ltd. The keel was laid December 25, 2010 and was delivered March 26, 2013. The vessel is 623 feet in length, and has a deadweight capacity of 37,212 metric tons. The vessel is owned by Schifffahrtsgesellschaft MS “NSchelde” mbh Co. Kg, Germany. The agent of record for the vessel is Pacific Northwest Ship and Cargo Services.  Cargo interests are represented by Pacific Northwest Ship and Cargo Services (USA) Inc. and Cascade Marine Agencies.

The M/V N Schelde’s maiden voyage originated from Zhoushan, China. The ship loaded 33,228 metric tons of copper concentrate at the Port of Vancouver before sailing to China.
