wvfa-trench_2604eThe West Vancouver Freight Access Design Package 2-A, the “Trench Project”, which creates a new rail entrance into the port, will begin its next phase of construction this summer. The most recent milestone took place when final design was approved and the project was advertised the week of April 9. Open bidding is scheduled to begin this Thursday, and comes before the commission during the June 25 commission meeting.

In addition to the completion of the remaining pile driving, the second phase of the project, will construct the cast-in-place concrete superstructure, otherwise known as the “Trench” that will eventually deliver the new access route into the port and significantly improve the port’s rail capacity. You can view a video of what this will look like by clicking here.

A final phase is scheduled to begin in 2014 and will complete the remaining connection elements that will attach the new entrance to the port’s internal system and deliver the complete project by April 2015.
