HOLIDAY CLOSURE – THANKSGIVING, NOV. 28 & 29 – The Port of Vancouver will be closed for receipt and delivery of cargo on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28, is an ILWU Non-Working Holiday. Vessel activity will be conducted as usual on Friday, Nov. 29. The administrative office will also be closed both days.

Bulk

The Port of Vancouver USA is primarily a bulk import and export facility with dedicated facilities for specific commodities, such as grain, soybeans, corn, mineral ores, concentrates, fertilizers, clays, bauxite and agricultural commodities. Other bulk commodities are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Terminal 2: Grain Elevator Grain Elevator

  • Concrete silos: 290

The grain terminal is operated by United Grain Corporation. The facility consists of a 715-foot dock and a barge dock that allows simultaneous barge off-loading at a rate of 2,000 metric tons per hour. The elevator has the largest storage capacity on the U.S. West Coast at 220,000 metric tons (8.3 million bushels) with an annual handling capacity of 5 million tons. With more than 290 silos for segregating wheat, soybeans and corn types, the terminal is able to accommodate any kind of quality requirements from overseas buyers.

United Grain Corporation’s elevator at the port is the largest one on the U.S. West Coast. Due to continual expansion and upgrading of the facility, originally built in 1934, the company is among the most efficient handlers of grain in the world.

Terminal 2, Berth 7: Dry Bulk Export Dock

  • Dock Length: 800 lineal feet (243 meters)
  • Dock Height: 30 feet (9.14 meters)
  • Berth Depth: 43 feet (13.11 meters) (CRD)*

This dry bulk dock is capable of exporting a broad range of heavy mineral bulk commodities quickly and efficiently using a telescoping conveyor system.

Capabilities: Direct transfer from rail to storage, bottom dump or top unloading. Features: 124,616 square-foot covered bulk storage with telescoping conveyor loader with outboard reach of 60 feet. The port’s bulk facility is operated by Metro Ports.

Terminal 2, Berth 2: Heavy Lift & Bulk Export Dock

  • Dock Length: 550 lineal feet (167 meters)
  • Dock Height: 30 feet (9.14 meters)
  • Berth Depth: 43 feet (13.11 meters) (CRD)*
  • Dock Strength: 1,000 pounds per square foot

This bulk scrap export dock is a state-of-the-art, environmentally compliant facility that handles many types of scrap commodities.

Terminal 2, Berth 5: Liquid Bulk Dock

  • Dock Length: 400 lineal feet (121 meters)
  • Dock Height: 25 feet (7.6 meters)
  • Berth Depth: 41 feet  (12.5 meters) (CRD)*

The liquid bulk dock is owned by the port, and operated by NuStar Energy L.P. and Tesoro Logistics. It has three pipelines from the dock to several storage tank farms, with a total capacity of over 3 million barrels. This dock routinely handles jet fuel, caustic soda, methanol, diesel and other petroleum products.
