Terminal Status Granted
Port granted all-important terminal status
On April 9, 1963, commissioners authorized the port manager to proceed on a promotional campaign announcing that the port had been granted full terminal status by the Pacific Westbound Conference and the inbound conferences—Japan, Hong Kong, Formosa Straits and the Philippines. This recognized the port’s size and capacity to accommodate major cargoes, and gave Vancouver preferred status for shippers making West Coast stops.
