0287-PORT_Lapel-Pin_brown_partnershipA recently released report by the Vancouver Lake Watershed Partnership represents 10 years of hard work by community members, the city of Vancouver, Clark County and the port. The partnership, which has served as both a research and advocacy group for the lake, formed in 2004 to address reoccurring blue-green algae blooms that periodically closed the lake to the public. The 52-page report captures what the community has learned about the complex ecosystem and offers several possible actions to improve the lake’s health.

To learn more about the organization’s past, present and future, read The Columbian’s February 12 article, Group reflects on Vancouver Lake.

The port offers a hearty THANK YOU to the many community members who served on the partnership and to the city of Vancouver, Clark County, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Geological Survey, and WSU Vancouver for their partnership in this worthwhile endeavor.
