Paging old devices: IMS Electronics Recycling celebrates Earth Day
A wide variety of tenants call the Port of Vancouver USA home, and one tenant in particular went above and beyond during this year’s Earth Day celebration. IMS Electronics Recycling (IMS), a company dedicated to offering innovative and quality recycling in an environmentally responsible and fiscally sound manner, held multiple special events this week in order to encourage local businesses and community members to drop off their used electronics for safe and sustainable recycling.
One such event was IMS General Manager Bill Peterson’s presentation during the port’s board of commissioners meeting on Tuesday. Bill provided an overview of the company and its mission – and explained that IMS expects to receive several thousand pounds of electronics for recycling on Earth Day – and the port was happy to help.
At the close of the meeting, commissioners caravanned over to the IMS building to drop off their own out-of-date electronics for recycling. Commission President Brian Wolfe handed over a fax and copy machine, Commissioner Jerry Oliver an old printer and keyboard, and Commissioner Nancy Baker a box of old telephones.
The port is proud to have a tenant so committed to sustainability and wanted to show their support, explained Wolfe.
Peterson echoed these sentiments during his presentation. “IMS has the opportunity to be in just about any industrial place that it chooses to be, but it’s in the Port of Vancouver because our business is acutely focused on environmental issues and those issues affect the local community as well as the county we’re in,” said Peterson. “We found that the Port of Vancouver is a perfect partner for that because they share the same high focus for the environment.”
