FoodExpress_04252013_4158-webFood Express, Inc. began as a transporter of bulk corn starch from Stockton, CA to the Pacific Northwest and back hauling bakery flour to central California. Since the company’s inception in 1983, Food Express, Inc. has expanded into many other commodities, including bakery flour, clay, and products for the paper manufacturing industry. The company became a port tenant in 1990.

Over the years, at its Port of Vancouver location, Food Express’s business has grown from an initial seven tractor/trailer combinations to a current total of more than 165 tractors and 310 trailers operating out of facilities in four western states.  Its’ operations have expanded into new commodities, including liquid and dry bulk trans-load and super-sacking of dry product, requiring additional warehousing.   In 2012, Food Express, Inc. invested over $100,000 in additional rail infrastructure in the Port of Vancouver to increase efficiencies for handling its’ commodities.

One special feature of Food Express, Inc.’s facility at the port is a public scale used by many port tenants and outside freight companies, enhancing camaraderie and partnership along the Vancouver docks and the local community.  Food Express, Inc.’s strong product growth, continual commitment of investment in their facility, and the company’s leadership and support in the freight community has garnered Food Express, Inc. the port’s 2012 Facilities Improvement award.
