WVFAP19_Gateway-Ave-Grade-Separation_20130907_webSince the Gateway Avenue Grade Separation project resumed construction just over a month ago, crews have since made considerable progress on the project that builds an overpass that separates vehicle traffic from train traffic below. The new bridge will allow cars and trucks to travel over the port’s growing internal rail corridor while accessing two of the port’s five marine terminals.

Apollo, Inc., the prime contractor for the project, is currently preparing for curb and sidewalk installation. Paving, striping and placing signs on Gateway Avenue will take place the week of October 7, and more excitingly, vehicles will be able to use the overpass beginning the week of October 14,. The overpass eases congestion and allows safe and efficient movement within the terminal.
