wvfap16dp2a_20130828cThe West Vancouver Freight Access Trench project is making progress on what will eventually become the new rail entrance into the port. The project is approximately 32 percent complete and is on budget and on schedule. Crews have completed four of the 13 concrete pours, with a pour scheduled every other week until they are finished. Pile driving continues and is ahead of schedule, with the majority of piles below the “Ordinary High Water Mark” expected to be complete in advance of the in-water work window.

Electrical work is being performed, and consists primarily of architectural lighting that will illuminate the outer walls of the concrete structure.  Throughout construction, portions of the lighting are actually placed within the concrete itself.  When the structure is complete, wires will be run through the conduits and fixtures and bulbs will be installed.
