VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Port of Vancouver USA today announced that Port of Vancouver Commissioner Jerry Oliver will serve as president of the Washington Public Ports Association (WPPA) Board of Trustees for 2013. As president, Oliver will work collaboratively with fellow executive committee members to provide high-level leadership and strategic oversight for the association.
“As a true believer that the Port of Vancouver plays a critical role in the economic well-being of my own community, I am honored to serve on the board of an organization that promotes the value of public ports throughout our state,” said Oliver.
Formed by the Washington State Legislature in 1961, the WPPA promotes the interests of public ports through effective government relations, ongoing education and strong advocacy programs. Oliver was elected to the position of president on November 30 at the association’s annual membership meeting in Seattle, Washington.
“We are extremely pleased that Jerry Oliver will serve as president of our board for 2013,” said WPPA Executive Director Eric Johnson. “He has been a valuable member of our executive committee for the past three years and brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and a proven commitment to sustainable economic development.”
