July 14 commission workshop
The port is holding a commission workshop at noon on July 14 with Leland Consulting Group. The port hired the Portland, Oregon-based firm in December 2014 to analyze the feasibility of developing a multiuse commercial building on the port’s 13 acres of waterfront property at Terminal 1.

During the July 14 workshop, Leland will provide the commission with an update and present a development strategy for the potential multiuse building.

July 15 public open house
On July 15, the port is hosting a public open house from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Terminal 1 amphitheater on the Columbia River waterfront. Attendees can stop by anytime to view concepts for redeveloping the port’s waterfront property, talk with project staff, submit comments, take a survey, and more. The family friendly event also offers walking tours, a kids’ activity area and light refreshments.

Revitalizing the waterfront
The Port of Vancouver is reinventing Terminal 1 – its birthplace on the Columbia River. The site is where the port established its first facilities, in conjunction with the city of Vancouver, in 1925. Today Terminal 1 is home to the Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay, The Quay Restaurant, a small office building, public amphitheater and public docks.

The development is part of an overall effort by the port, city of Vancouver and developer Columbia Waterfront LLC to revitalize the downtown Vancouver waterfront. The three organizations have been partnering for more than a decade to modernize infrastructure and develop a vibrant new community along the Columbia River.

The port is currently moving through its master planning process and expects to present a report late this summer. The entire master planning and feasibility process is expected to be complete by the end of this year.
