Port Celebrates Holiday Season with Tenants and Customers
The Port of Vancouver held its annual holiday party on Thursday, December 4, at the port’s administrative offices. The festive event offered an opportunity for the Board of Commissioners and staff to thank tenants and customers for the jobs and economic benefit they bring to the community.
Commissioners Brian Wolfe, Nancy Baker and Jerry Oliver were in attendance, as was CEO Todd Coleman. Port leaders and staff visited with the more than 80 attendees, including representatives from the Clark County Sheriff’s office, Pacific Northwest Ship and Cargo, Northwest Packing Company, Great Western Malting, IMS Electronics Recycling and Evraz Steel.
The port organizes several tenant events throughout the year, but the December gathering is a special time for everyone to come together, celebrate the holidays, and look back on the year’s accomplishments.
Some 2014 highlights include:
- Recognition of Cadet Manufacturing as the port’s Tenant of the Year;
- Acknowledgment of SAPA Extrusions with the port’s Facilities Improvement Award;
- Selection of Clark County Mitigation Partners LLC for the port’s Environmental Stewardship Award;
- Celebration of the 1 millionth Subaru to be handled at the port;
- Sale of 9.6 acres at the port’s Centennial Industrial Park to steel manufacturer Maruichi Northwest;
- Collaboration with Great Western Malting on an interpretive exhibit located near the Vancouver Amtrak station; and=
- Expansion of Keller Supply’s storage and distribution facility by 12,000 sq. ft.
Approximately 2,300 people come to work each day at the port, with the majority of these local residents being employed by the 50-plus industrial tenants located on port property. The port very much appreciates its wonderful tenants and customers and the important role they play in keeping our local economy healthy. Happy holidays!
